NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST.
The "Jokes on You" National Comedy Competition" ("Contest") starts 9/24/10 and ends 10/16/10 as detailed below. www.thejokesonu.com ("the website") is the official website destination in this Contest. The Contest shall be subject to these Official Rules, and by entering, all participants agree to be bound by the terms and conditions herein.
ELIGIBILITY: This Contest is only open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are of majority age in the jurisdiction of their legal residency as of the date of their entry. By entering, entrants agree that they have read these Official Rules and to abide by and be bound by all terms of these Official Rules.
HOW TO ENTER: Comedians must register to participate in the Contest. Comedians may register on-line at www.thejokesonu.com by submitting a (2) min video by Tuesday, September 28th by midnight or in-person at Jokes & Notes(located 4641 S. King Drive) by 10pm. Participants will be required to provide their full name, hometown city, state, zip, email address, date of birth and phone number. (Please read Video Submission Process)
In addition, participants will be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility/Submission Release Form ("Submission Form") by which they agree to hold Jokes & Notes and NGINE Media Group, and its affiliates, officers, directors, partners, shareholders and agents not liable for any claims resulting from participation in the Contest. Failure to complete this Affidavit of Eligibility/Submission Release Form will result in forfeiture.
Stand-Up Comedy Competition
Round One: Casting Call (Thursday, September 30th) at Jokes & Notes
Registered and pre-selected stand-up comedy performers will be notified on Wednesday, September 29th if they will take part in the first round of the competition, which will be held at Jokes and Notes and hosted by George Willborn. All stand-up comedy performers must register online at www.thejokesonu.com After meeting all of the above stated registration requirements, stand-up comedy performers will be given the opportunity to perform their original comedy routine for three (3) minutes during the casting call Should there be more registered participants than can perform during the time allotted for the live event, participants will perform on a first-come-first-served basis. Due to time and logistics constraints, Jokes On You production team does not guarantee that every registered performer will have the opportunity to perform live.
Performances may not include nudity or hate speech and may be disqualified for obscene, libelous, or defamatory statements, or statements that invade the publicity or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased. Jokes on You production team shall have the right to disqualify any entries due to technical, legal or other problems, or which it deems to be obscene or otherwise not in good taste, as determined by Jokes on You production team in its sole discretion. Jokes on You and its representatives' decisions are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to this Contest.
Stand-up comedy participants will be judged at the live event to determine the funniest performance based on humor, originality and positive audience reaction. Judging will be done by the audience in attendance, who will be given the opportunity to vote for their preferred performances. There will be 3-4 judges on the panel that will also judge all contestants. Only (8) contestants will be able to move on to the on-line voting phase of the competition.
Round Two: Voting Polls open www.thejokesonu.com
The eight (8) semi-finalist will be posted online and will be contacted by telephone and/or email by Friday, October 8, 2010 before voting begins.
Audio-video recordings of each contestant (8) in total are eligible for voting on www.thejokesonu.com starting Wednesday, October 13th at 12noon and polls close on Saturday, October 16th at 4pm . All visitors online will be able to vote for their top four comedians to progress to the finale on Saturday, November 13th at the Museum and Science and Industry. The (4) four contestants with the highest votes will compete at the finale.
THE FINALE: Museum of Science & Industry
All four (4) Contestants will advance to the finale on Saturday, November 13th at the Museum of Science and Industry. Event will be videotaped. Crowd participation and panel of judges at the event will determine the Grand Prize winner of Jokes on You 2010. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, November 17th at 12 noon(central).
Audience members at the performance will be allowed to vote for their favorite contestant. Audience voting may take the form of SMS Text voting, mobile voting, paper ballots, physical show of support (clapping, standing, raising of hands, etc.) or other method determined in the sole discretion of Jokes on You production team or its representatives.
